Sycamore Square Group were appointed to design a remedial solution to a large concrete frame workshop that contained RAAC block panels to the roof with ceiling mounted radiant heaters and fire attenuation system. In order to develop a low cost low maintenance remedial solution Sycamore Square group liaised with a mesh netting supplier and a structural engineer to develop an engineered catch system to prevent any falling material to he ground in the event the RAAC failed. The cost effective solution required a metal cable system to be installed to the concrete frame that held a tensile mesh steel rock fall netting. The works were completed within 2 weeks and the facility operational again to deliver Heavy Structures workshop and testing. The remedial works were undertaken on access towers that could cantilever across the existing equipment and machines which would have been costly and programme prohibited. The live workshop is now back to full utilisation and annual RAAC and netting inspections are undertaken.
