Sycamore Square Group were tasked with maximising the use of a transient underutilised entrance area to create a new social study area. We zoned and segregated the access routes and walkways using acoustic baffles and screens, we design ed a mix of furniture styles to allow for group learning to solo study spaces. Through careful planned acoustic installations we maximised the capacity of the area to provide a multifunctional study environment to meet a variety of needs from the students. We sustainable and locally sourced materials and lighting where possible. Through careful consideration of light, access routes, acoustics and privacy we transformed a dull unused space into a warm and vibrant social learning and private study space. Sycamore Square group designed and procured the works and managed the construction contractor throughout the project ensure segregation from business as usual activities during the works. The project complemented four other social learning transformations we delivered across the campus.
