Sycamore Square Group provided lead consultant, project management, contract administration, structural,civil and mechanical and electrical design services as part of the project. The project was split into two main phases. The first phase was the removal of asbestos and the demolition of a former Youth Block at the Armthorpe Academy site to make way for an extended car park provision. Sycamore Square Group developed the scope of works for the demolition, working alongside specialist asbestos removal contractors and then developed the layouts, drainage, and technical details of the car park extension to submit to planning. Planning permission was achieved to undertake the car park extension and alteration but the Academy choose not to pursue this element of the works. The second phase of the project was for the re-roofing and window replacements within the South Block at the site. The works involved improving the thermal performance of the roof to current building regulations requirements, replacement quadrant windows to ensure that minimum upstand heights were maintained and ensuring that works were undertaken in accordance with the manufacturers warranty. The works were undertaken partly during term time, so segregation and contractor management was critical in order to ensure safeguarding boundaries and site security.
