Sycamore Square Group were appointed to provide Lead Designer, Contract Administration, Quantity Surveying and CDM Principal Designer services to create a new XRay suite with control room, reception and changing facilities. The project involved intensive collaboration with their equipment partner Fuji and the technical and cost management for the first machine of this specification installed in the UK. Phased funding approval and applications required us to advance design a number of building fabric elements factoring in flexible design to ensure that the first phases were efficient and flexible dependant on whether the subsequent phases were approved. Through cost efficiency appraisals undertaken to ensure efficiency in design of mechanical ventilation and cooling to maximise lifecycle costs and installation costs.  The forward planning process implemented ensured that maximum savings in build costs and running costs could be obtained and that appropriate and planned pathways, risk analysis and critical sign offs were allocated from the outset. This resulted in the Faculty of Health successfully achieving the financial funding for all three projects due to the efficiencies and quality impacts they were able to quantify at the outset. We accessed market supply challenges at the outset which resulted in the Faculty of Health obtaining financial approvals for advanced orders of lead lined materials and mechanical plant to ensure the facility would be operational at the funding critical timescales. We worked seamlessly with the manufacturers and their European experts to ensure the detailing of infrastructure aligned to their requirements using Revit and 3d modelling to apprise the existing infrastructure. Our Healthcare experience enabled us to specify HTM compliant products that were cost effective and promoted the engaging environment for their patients.
