Sycamore Square Group were appointed to provide Lead Designer, Contract Administration, Quantity Surveying and CDM Principal Designer services for refurbishment and remodelling works to the top floor of the Richmond Building. The project involved demolition of several rooms to create one large training ward for use by the Pharmacy department as well as other medical faculties within the University. The works required design and co-ordination of cladding panel replacement to accommodate new mechanical ventilation louvre terminations. As the works were on the top floor of the 13 storey Richmond Building, Sycamore Square Group co-ordinated direct with cladding panel suppliers to ensure design and logistics for the replacement were planned early in the design stage. The project was planned to provide a high-fidelity training experience enabling students to develop key skills for working practice. The scope included “dummy” clinical bedhead services to simulate real world scenarios. The design was co-ordinated by Sycamore Square Group in consultation with faculty leads and those from separate faculties to ensure as wide a range of students would benefit from the space.
