Sycamore Square Group were appointed as Contract Administrations and CDM Principal Designers for the restoration of the historic Grade II listed Gate Lodge in Leeds, which forms part of the Temple Works site. The project served as a prototype project for the masonry repairs planned and required on the main mill. The works included for the opening up of the structure, removal of the remnant roof slab, repairing, repointing and pinning fractured masonry sections, and replacing corroded cast iron ties, prior to reinstating the roof structure and laying a modern roof covering and fitting new sash windows and doors. Funding was provided by Historic England for the scheme, who confirmed upon completion of the works that the successful restoration of the Gate Lodge marked a significant milestone for the Temple Works Site and means that the building can now be removed from the Heritage at Risk Register.
