Sycamore Square Group were appointed by Chugach Consolidated Solutions (an American Principal Contractor)to provide Contract Management and CDM Principal Designer services for a UPS Battery Replacement scheme within a building at RAF Menwith Hill. Chugach were appointed on a design and build basis and the scheme included for; replacing the existing three battery strings with new batteries. The new batteries were required to be integrated into a battery monitoring system. The upgrades also included for the provision of mechanical ventilation systems to comply with UK requirements. Hydrogen detection was also added to the existing smoke detection system to monitor for hydrogen leaks. The modified mechanical system was integrated into the unified interface for building operations. Our duties on the scheme were to provide contractual advice to the American Contractor including construction progress, programme, and assisting on commercial management including change control. We also provided the CDM Principal Designer role, to make sure that all duty holders were compliant with the CDM 2015 regulations.
