Sycamore Square Group were appointed as the Universities single source supplier for professional services to design and manage the construction of a new bar space. The existing bar was focused on sports and was tired and underutilised. We developed a design scheme in conjunction with our framework supplier interior designers that created a contemporary, inclusive and modern bar that could be used for drinks, pool, karaoke and cinema and sports. We retained many existing ceilings and repainted the soffits where exposed to increase light, we wrapped existing doors in a copper film to make them appear new and vibrant and to extend the budget. We reused the existing bench seating and recovered it and created new contemporary dividers to enhance privacy and acoustics. The space was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students and is always highly utilised. The refurbishment has redefined the heart of the campus, inclusivity, accessibility and function.
